Google Place ID finder

Paste a Google Maps link — the long one your browser shows, a ?cid= link, or a review link — and this page reads out the Place ID, the CID and the FTID, then builds the review link from the Place ID. It calls no Google API and sends nothing; it only reads what is already in the link.

Best source: open your listing on Google Maps in a desktop browser and copy the whole address bar. Short share links do not carry the IDs.

Paste a link or an ID and the results appear here.

No link handy? Look the Place ID up on Google

Google publishes a free lookup on its own documentation page. Nothing to install and no account needed.

  1. Open Google’s Place ID Finder in the Maps Platform documentation (button below).
  2. Type the business name and city into the search box on the map.
  3. Pick your listing from the suggestions. The Place ID appears in the info window on the map.
  4. Copy it, come back here and paste it into the box above.

Everything happens in your browser. No Google API is called, and what you paste is not sent anywhere or stored.

What it reads, and what it cannot

A customer who tapped your review link is one search away from your website. Every Naratake starting point opens with a reviews section and an hours block already in place, and building and previewing are free — no card to sign up.

Common questions

What is a Google Place ID?

A text identifier Google gives every entry in its places database — a business, an address, a park. For a business it usually starts with ChIJ and runs about 27 characters. The review link, the Places API and Maps embeds all address a listing by it. It is public information, not a key or a login, so it is safe to print or publish.

Does a Place ID change?

Rarely, but it can. Google’s documentation says a stored ID can go stale after large updates to its map data, and suggests refreshing IDs you have kept for more than a year. There is no expiry date. If a review link stops opening the right listing, look the ID up again and replace it.

Place ID vs CID: which one do I need?

Both point at the same listing. The Place ID is text (ChIJ…) and is what the review link and the Places API expect. The CID is a number and is what a maps.google.com link with ?cid= expects. You cannot turn one into the other without asking Google, which this page does not do. What it can do is read the CID out of the FTID in a full Maps URL, because the FTID contains it.

Is the Place ID the same as my Google Maps URL?

No. The Maps URL is a whole address with coordinates, zoom level and view settings, and the IDs sit inside it. A share link such as maps.app.goo.gl is a redirect to that long URL, which is why this page cannot read it until you open it once. The IDs are the part that stays the same when the URL around them changes.
