Before you tape it to the door
- List only the days that change. A row is either closed or special hours; a date you leave out means regular hours, and a sign with six “normal” rows hides the two that matter.
- Name the day people search for. “Dec 24 · 8:00 – 14:00” answers the question they came with; “Christmas Eve” alone sends them to look up the date.
- Match Google. Enter the same dates as special hours on your Google Business Profile — a map result that still says “Open” at 10 pm on Christmas Eve is how one-star reviews get written.
- Print two. One on the door at eye level, one by the register a week early, so regulars hear about the closure before they plan around you.

What should a holiday hours sign say?
Your business name, “holiday hours” in large type, then one line per date: the date and either “Closed” or the hours. End with the day regular hours resume and, if you take pre-orders, the last date for them. That is the whole sign — anything longer goes unread from the sidewalk.
Can I print it on Letter or A4?
Yes. Print opens the browser dialog with only the sign on the page, and the layout fills whichever paper size the dialog has. Choose landscape in this tool for a shop window; the print dialog switches orientation to match.
Do I need to update Google as well?
Yes. Google Business Profile has a “special hours” setting for exact dates, and customers who check the map result never see your door. Put the same dates there; otherwise Google warns searchers that your hours may differ, which reads as doubt.
Can I post it on Instagram or Facebook?
Download PNG gives you a 3,200-pixel image of the same sign, which is enough for a feed post or a story. For a square post, pick landscape and crop in the app; the text stays centered.
