Google Business Profile optimization checklist (2026)
Twenty-two checks, in the order Google shows them to a customer: the profile basics, the description, photos, reviews, then the website the profile links to. Tick each one off here — the list saves in your browser — and print it for the wall.

How this checklist works
- Each item says what “done” looks like, so you can check it against your live profile instead of guessing.
- Ticks are stored in this browser only. Nothing is sent to us, there is no account, and Reset clears the list.
- Steps that need something built — the description, the review link, the hours and business markup — link to the free generator that makes it, so the website half is not homework.
- It is a maintenance list, not a one-time setup: hours change, photos age, reviews keep arriving. Come back monthly.
The website field is the one link on the profile that goes exactly where you choose. Every Naratake starting point opens as a working site for your trade — hours, address and business markup included — and is free to build and preview.

What does “optimized” mean for a Google Business Profile?
Complete, accurate and current. Every field Google shows a customer — name, category, address, hours, phone, website, photos, description — is filled in, matches your signage and your website, and gets updated when something changes. There is no trick beyond that.
Does completing the profile guarantee a spot in the map pack?
No. Google decides local results from relevance, distance and prominence, and nobody outside Google can promise a position. A complete profile removes the reasons Google might skip you or show wrong information; that is what this list covers.
How often should I go through it?
Once fully, then a short pass every month: hours and holiday hours, new photos, replies to new reviews. Google periodically asks owners to confirm the information is still correct, and stale hours are what customers notice first.
Is anything saved or sent when I tick a box?
The ticks live in your browser’s local storage, on this device only. Nothing goes to a server, there is no account, and Reset wipes it. Print gives you a paper copy with the same ticks.
